Tech Tips

Installing Sun Wheel Treads

When installing a wheel tread, turn it inside out before slipping it over the wheel cores. When you get to the wheel core that is to receive the tread, flip it back to normal and stretch it over the core. After all the treads are over the wheel cores, lay a piece of corrugated on the floor and roll the wheel shaft back and forth, using downward pressure. The treads will seat in the cores without having to use a mallet on each one.

ColorMaster Reverse-Angled Doctor Blade assembly

Colormaster

ColorMaster Reverse-Angled Doctor Blade assembly is the hands-down favorite flexo press ink system. It features a tool-less blade holder with precise locating pins for fast and easy blade changes.

This is an economical upgrade for any flexo unit that uses roll-to-roll or OEM blade systems. The ink cavity is engineered from polyurethane and will never corrode. The extruded aluminum support beam and mounting brackets allow mounting to an existing pivot-frame assembly.

Here are some advantages:

  • The tool-less blade holder with locating pins allows for fast, accurate blade changes.
  • Improves print quality by maintaining an even ink film under all conditions.
  • Minimizes ink usage due to the non-wetting urethane ink cavity.
  • The custom-engineered bladder frame and urethane ink cavity ensure stability and will not warp.
  • ColorMaster is available for machines up to 220 inches wide.

Options include an electronically controlled ink pump system, a wash-up system and PLC control system.

Reduce Operating Costs While Keeping Your Machinery Running — Some Sage Advice in Turbulent Economic Times

Langson

When a machine is on the verge of failure, maintenance engineers face the dilemma of ordering parts proactively or waiting for the machine to fail before taking action. SUN Automation recommends ordering parts before a failure. A proactive approach will probably minimize the total cost since catastrophic failures often damage parts adjacent to failed components. Catastrophic failures can also create longer downtimes during repairs. When you notice a pending problem, do the following:

  • Indentify the machine model and serial number and the general parts required. Sun personnel can help identify existing part numbers.
  • Check to see if they are in inventory at your plant or at SUN’s Parts Distribution Center.
  • If not in stock at the plant, order as soon as possible.
  • If not in stock at SUN, permit SUN to begin the manufacturing/sourcing process.

A proactive approach will often avoid the mishaps and extended downtimes associated with component failure. Let the SUN Automation Parts & Service team help you prepare and react to any impending breakdowns. This is especially important if the parts are not in inventory and have long lead times.

You’ll not only save money, but we can also ship your parts the day they’re ordered since we have more than 200,000 parts in stock for Langston, Ward, Staley, Koppers, United, Deritend and Greenwood machines. Furthermore we can send our field service techs out to help, reducing downtime. We have it all. Call 800-253-7278 for emergency parts and service 24/7 or during normal business hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday.
